Strawberries, Sugar Cane, Blueberries, Lime
Through Royal Coffee Oakland, we found this gem of a coffee, which is sourced from family- owned farms organized around the Adado Cooperative located within the coffee region of Yirgacheffe in the Gedeo Zone. The Adado Cooperative currently has 1,128 members. In 2002, the cooperative joined the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU), an umbrella organization established in 2002 to support a sustainable coffee supply from cooperatives in the Gedeo ethnic region of Ethiopia. There are twenty-six other cooperatives affiliated with the YCFCU totaling more than 45,000 members.
While Royal Coffee Oakland and the better known (on this side of the continent) and Royal Coffee NY are a part of the same umbrella organization, we’ve found that Royal Oakland’s team is more attuned to the cup profiles and need for uniqueness that coffee drinkers in the know have come to expect from Ethiopia sourcing. We feel this lot is pretty stellar in terms of how complex of a cup it has and given its price point.
